Almond Coconut vs. Coconut Peanut Butter

Two of our fan faves, but two very different flavors, Almond Coconut and Coconut Peanut Butter get confused, switched and called about every week. One has dates, one has peanut butter and both have real bits of coconut. With a quick glance from the outside we can understand how the two can be a source of nutty confusion, but once you peel back the wrapper the differences are striking. To help you differentiate the two and ensure you get the delicious Perfect Bar you’re hoping to bite into, we are breaking down the flavors once and for all.

The Color of the Wrappers

We know, we know. We just love the color blue. There are now four Perfect Bar wrappers that are some shade of blue. Blueberry Cashew, Chocolate Walnut Brownie and of course, Coconut Peanut Butter and Almond Coconut. One easy way to differentiate between the two is the slight difference in the shade of blue, as well as keeping an eye out for either the peanut shape or the almond shape on the front of the wrapper.

The Fruit in Almond Coconut

Another common question we get is when people open up the package expecting Coconut Peanut Butter and what they actually have is Almond Coconut. Besides the nut butter bases of the two flavors being different, another big difference is what you will find in the bar. Most people who haven’t tried Almond Coconut are sometimes thrown off by the dried cranberries you will taste once you bite into the bar.

Plant-Based

Almond Coconut is our only vegan flavor. This is an almond butter and date based bar, with real flakes of coconut and bits of cranberries. This flavor has a different look and taste than our other flavors being that it does not contain honey and is rather sweetened with dates.

Almond Butter vs Peanut Butter

Almond Coconut like stated above, is almond butter based which naturally will be drier than our peanut butter based bars. Our peanut butter based bars, like Coconut Peanut Butter, will be creamier and denser.

    1. Hey Rhonda — Unfortunately Almond Coconut has been discontinued in order to make room for some new and exciting flavor innovations coming down the pipeline. You may enjoy some of our other almond butter varieties such as Almond Butter, Dark Chocolate Almond or Maple ALmond. Cheers to good health!

  1. This was one of the few “treats” I could buy in stores. I’ve checked the labels of your other bars and this is the only one I am able to eat. Is it possible this bar will make a come back?

    1. Hey Cole — Thanks for reaching out to us and of course, for being a fan! Unfortunately, Almond Coconut will not be making a comeback. However, our team is always working on new flavor combinations so I will be sure to pass your feedback along to them. Cheers to good health!

  2. It seems there is no vegan option or an option without egg available. Almond Coconut was the only option which I could eat.

  3. Will you be making any more whole30/ paleo compliant recipes, given that almond coconut was discontinued? I absolutely love your bars, but feel best when I’m eating paleo.

    1. Our team is always working on new flavors – I’ll be sure to pass this feedback along to them!

  4. I’ve tried all the flavors and Almond Coconut was the only one worth buying! The texture, flavor, and consistency literally made it a perfect bar. I always thought it was discontinued as it suddenly disappeared from the shelves where I worked but I never looked it up until now as I was reminded by it from a “What discontinued food do you wish was brought back” post I came across. Without a doubt the Almond Coconut Perfect Bar is the only food item I wish did not meet an untimely demise. Was it discontinued due to poor sales, higher cost of ingredients/lower profit margin? I need closure so I can finally close the book on this sad Perfect Bar chapter.

    1. Hi Cameron – We were sad to Almond Coconut go, too! We are always working on new flavors – stay tuned! Hopefully, you’ll find another love like Almond Coconut.

  5. I figured I’d add my voice to the chorus of others by saying that the Almond Coconut flavor was my favorite nutrition bar of all time…and I’m not even particularly vegan. I guess it’d be a long shot to ask for the recipe, since it’s been confirmed that this flavor won’t be getting revived?

Thanks in advance for your time and consideration!

    1. Hi Joe! Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, we can’t share our recipe. We hope your find a new fave flavor.
